V Festival Announces Peter Doherty

pete_doherty11V Festival organisers have unveiled this years line-up for the Virgin Media Union stage. Confirmed acts for the stage include love-able rogue Peter Doherty, indie stars Mystery Jets and Welsh Rappers Goldie Lookin’ Chain.

In a statement about the new additions, Festival Director Bob Angus said, “This year’s Virgin Media Union stage offers a diverse array of acts, genuinely delivering something for everyone. With both old and new faces making appearances the calibre of this years line up is as good as always and reflects the Festival’s commitment to offering new talent a stage to perform to a music loving audience.”

Other acts confirmed to play on the stage over the two festivals sites include: British Sea Power, Phoenix, The Twang, The Sunshine Underground, Howling Bells, Jenny Lewis, Gary Go, Pete Murray, Seth Lakeman and Joe Lean And The Jing Jang Jong.

VV Brown, Vagabond, One Eskimo, Kid British, Ray Gun, Iain Archer, Wallis Bird, The Gay Blades, Lights and Exit Calm will all also be playing on the Virgin Media Union stage.

V Festival 2009 takes place at Hylands Park, Chelmsford, and Weston Park, Staffs from 22-23 August.

Road To V Entrants to be Shown Online

Road To V has been running for over 5 years and the competition searches for great emerging talent to fill two of the slots at V Festival. Ten competition finalists will get mentored by some acts that have been there done that and will play at The Great Escape festival. The public will select the two winning bands that they want to open this year’s V Festival after a live show that will be broadcast on Virgin 1.

V Festival 2009 Bands Announced

The twin V Festival events have confirmed recently reformed Oasis to headline alongside previously announced The Killers for this years festival.

The event which is set to take place at Hylands Park, Chelmsford, and Weston Park, Staffs from 22-23 August has also today confirmed a whole range of different acts to play which include Razorlight, Fat Boy Slim, Lily Allen, Elbow, Biffy Clyro and Keane.

It has also been confirmed that The Streets, The Enemy, MGMT, The Wombats, Pendulum, Dizzee Rascal, Katy Perry, The Saturdays, The Ting Tings, Lady Ga Ga plus many others will also be playing the weekend!

Tickets for the event go on sale on Friday 6th March.

The Killers headline V Festival

In an interview with the Daily Star, band member Mark Stoermer said: “We are indeed headlining the V Festival and we’re lucky to be doing it on our third album – things keep getting better for us. We will have the biggest lighting show we’ve ever had – it costs twice as much as our last tour.

“When you’re playing big places you’ve got to give something to everyone, including the fans at the back. We’ve become more refined as a live act.”

V Festival 2009 takes place at Hylands Park, Chelmsford, and Weston Park, Staffs from 22-23 August.

V Festival tickets go on sale 6 March.
