    The Prodigy announced for Radio 1’s Big Weekend!

    radio_1_logoThe Prodigy have been announced to headline this year’s Radio 1’s Big Weekend alongside Lily Allen and Franz Ferdinand.

    This year’s Radio 1’s Big Weekend takes place in Swindon, Lydiard Park. The event will take place on 9th-10th May.

    Other acts set to play the Swindon event include: Snow Patrol, Kasabian, Dizzee Rascal, Calvin Harris, Basement Jaxx, Friendly Fires, The Enemy, Maximo Park and Chase and Status.

    The Prodigy will headline the second day (May 10) of the two-day festival. Tickets for the event are given out for free. Registration for the tickets has now closed.

    More Bands Announced for Radio 1’s One Big Weekend

    the-enemyRadio 1 One Big Weekend organisers have today announced a huge list of bands that will be playing this year’s event. Acts include The Enemy, Maximo Park, Lily Allen and Basement Jaxx.

    Other acts announced today include: The Gossip, Enter Shikari, Chase And Status, Ladyhawke, White Lies, Kasabian, The Script, The Wombats and The Saturdays.

    Doves, Jack Penate, Friendly Fires, Deadmau5, Florence And The Machine, The King Blues and Fightstar have also been confirmed for the event.

    Previously announced acts include headliners Snow Patrol, Dizzee Rascal, Calvin Harris and  Alesha Dixon.

    The event which takes place at a new location every year is set to take place from 9-10 May at Lydiard Park, Swindon. In years gone-by tickets for the event are handed out for free and 20,000 per day are being lined up to be released for this year.

    For all those interested in the tickets they must first register for them. Registration open tomorrow (15th April) at 8.15am.

    Snow Patrol headline Radio 1’s One Big Weekend

    The annual Radio 1’s One Big Weekend event is to be headlined by Snow Patrol. N-Dubz was also announced to be playing at this years festival.

    Announced on Chris Moyles’ morning Radio 1 show, he spoke about the choice of venue: “We always try to bring it to places that don’t normally get big events like this. The people of Swindon are going to love it.”

    The weekend event, which has no set location and changes venur each year, will be hosted at Lydiard Park, Swindow from 9th-10th May. 20,000 tickets will be available and handed out free. The majority of those tickets will be going to the residents of Swindon.

    Registration for the tickets will open on Tuesday 14 April.
