Bands to Watch is a brand new addition to the UK Fests site. As the festival season is quickly approaching us, each Friday we will be taking a look at a smaller band which will be doing the UK festival rounds.

To kick off this new addition we will be taking a closer look at dance-indie act Friendly Fires. Friendly Fires are a UK band which started out as a very different band at the age of 14, called First Day Back. The band went on hold whilst the members were at uni but the fire was soon lit when they left university. This new band was influenced by dance music and is a much more recognisable form of todays Friendly Fires we know and love.
In late 2007 they found their first feeling of success when they released their debut single ‘Paris’ which was single of the week on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show and in The Guardian and NME publications. They released their self titled album in early September 2008 with their current label XL Recordings.
Friendly Fires have a growing list of 2009 festivals which they are playing at including T in the Park, Oxygen and Benicassim.
