The band will be playing the NME headlining slot on Sunday at Reading and Saturday at Leeds.

The Reading and Leeds organisers have also ‘unjumbled’ the acts on the NME/Radio 1 stage section of the official poster. Jamie T, Friendly Fires and Florence and the Machine will all be playing Reading on the Friday and Leeds on the Sunday. Gossip, Glasvegas, White Lies and The Maccabees will all be playing Reading on the Saturday and Leeds on the Friday. AFI, Gallows and The Gaslight Anthem will be playing Reading on the Sunday and Leeds on the Friday.

Weekend and day tickets for Reading and Leeds have completely sold out now. There is the slim chance of more tiny batches being released closer to the weekend but you’d be very lucky to get your paws on one of those. The Reading and Leeds weekend takes place over the August Bank Holiday.

The Libertines to Reform?

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

The Reading and Leeds promoters, Festival Republic, have asked the Libertine frontmen, Carl Barat and Pete Doherty, to reform. In exchange the promoters offered the band a headline slot at the huge Reading and Leeds festivals.

For those of you who would love a chance to see The Libertines reunite, sadly, they won’t be. Despite the money they have been offered to headline, Carl Barat sticks by his guns and has said the band ‘have to be friends’, it’s not just for the money.

Reading and Leeds Festivals will take place on the August Bank Holiday.
