Blur to Headline Glastonbury

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Recently reformed britpop act Blur, will headlining this years Glastonbury Festival according to the festival organiser Micheal Eavis. The news was slipped at the 2009 NME awards (last night) after two of the four Blur members performed ‘This Is A Low’ at the ceremony. BBC 6 Music then asked Micheal Eavis about the rumours surrounding Blur and the Glastonbury music event.

Eavis replied: “Can look forward to that, yeah.  But it’s not officially announced yet.  There’s a bit more work to do on that yet.  But you will not be disappointed, I can assure you.”

Rumours of Blur headlining Glastonbury have been circling for quite a while now so it comes as no shock to see Blur announced for the event. Blur will be joining Bruce Springsteen (who was announced earlier this week) at the famous festival.

Tickets to Glastonbury Festival have now sold out but a few very limited cancelled tickets will be going back on sale on April 5th.

“When you’re playing big places you’ve got to give something to everyone, including the fans at the back. We’ve become more refined as a live act.”

V Festival 2009 takes place at Hylands Park, Chelmsford, and Weston Park, Staffs from 22-23 August.

V Festival tickets go on sale 6 March.
