Spinal Tap to Play Glastonbury

spinaltapMetal rockers Spinal Tap have confirmed that they will be playing at Glastonbury Festival this year.

The band announced their appearance in an interview published in the Philadelphia Daily News. However, this is still to be confirmed by the Glastonbury organisers.

Back in 2007 the band reformed to play in the Live Earth series of concerts at Wembley Stadium. Live Earth was one of the concerts which has recently tried to raise awareness of global warming.

One of the bands guitarists said  “We originally thought about doing a full-blown ‘Tap’ tour this year to mark the 25th anniversary of the film’s release. To be honest, we couldn’t get that together. But we will do a couple of ‘Tap’ shows in Britain, at Wembley Arena and the Glastonbury Festival.”

Despite tickets announced as ‘Sold Out’ small batches are still being released so it’s not too late to get a ticket to the June Event. The events run from 24th June until28th June 2009 at Worthy Farm, Somerset.

Acts currently confirmed to play Glastonbury are Bruce Springsteen, Blur, Neil Young, Kasabian, Doves, White Lies, Echo and the Bunnymen, Florance & The Machine, Franz Ferdinand, The Ting Tings, Lily Allen, Fleet Foxes and Emiliana Torrini.

The full Glastonbury line-up is still to be announced but it is rumoured to be just a few weeks away. Watch this space for the latest news in the Glastonbury line-up.
